How to shoot an agency

November 21st, 2013

I got the assignment to shoot the advertising agency Frosting à la Mad Men, it’s for a thing they will be doing later this year. How much fun isn’t that!? Myself and Jonas at Frosting started last week by scouting locations, the one we felt would work best was the bar at The Bishops Arms just beside Knaust Hotel.

Today i got there at noon and started setting up the lights right away, i had to try to guess where all the ten persons would stand. In the back of the bar i set up a smoke machine to make the back of the picture less “contrasty”.

We had got a bunch of small props as well! Life magazine, ashtrays, lighter, a notebook in brown leather etc. We also had a bunch of fake drinks set up on the bar. All the hair and makeup was made by My and she even helped me get some behind-the-scenes-images! Great job!

To be able to control al the colors in post easier i filtered all the lights after the ambient light in the bar, then it was show time! I shot the image on a 1/2 of a second so i had the mirror up and the models dead still! But of course it was sharp as a razor any way 😉

Commercial and huge images!

November 8th, 2013

I got the assignment to shoot a commercial and stills for Birsta City shopping center to be used in their christmas campaign this year. The stills will be used on posters and on a huge banner on the front of the building. The TV-spot will be aired in TV4 and used on their website.
Me and Andreas from the agency Sweet Williams & POP started the day with putting down all the ideas, later on we started setting the light while the models where getting their makeup done. We began shooting the stills and then went over to filming. Me and Torbjörn Bergkvist filmed the spot together.

You see the image best by clicking the fullscreen symbol and watch it in HD. If you want to see some “behind the scenes” shots from the shoot you can do that here.

The Dragons icelandic players lands in Sweden

November 1st, 2013

At last i’m finished with the Dragons second image! Here you can see both the first sketch i did and the finished image. The ship i built was shot in my studio and then put together with the rest of the image in Photoshop. When i shot it i had a low resolution version of the almost ready picture in Capture One, the application which i use when i shoot, so i could see what angle the ship needed to be in to look the best.

The birds that flies in the image was shot just outside my studio the same day i needed them. Me and Jonas stood a while on the parking lot outside the studio waiting until one of us shouted “There, to the left by the roof!!” and then the other person aimed the tele lens at the birds and started shooting! 😀

Maybe the sketch is somewhat hard to see, but i got the final picture pretty much as was intended!

Fjällräven, summer

October 30th, 2013

Last friday myself and my assistant Jonas went to shoot for Fjällräven, the weather was perfect and that was kind of good since it’s the end of october and it was the summer collection that we needed to shoot.

The location was Skuleberget in Ångermanland. An as amazing as beautiful place! Even if the temperature was kind of cold the sun shined as a perfect day in july. Jonas and i both carried a lot of gear so the hike up 3 kilometres up the mountain was letting my legs know they where alive 🙂 We stopped a couple of times at nice spots to shoot some pictures. The sun was really hard in the middle of the day, but at that time we made some lunch over an open fire. It was i great day and we got some really nice shots.

Lucia 2013

October 26th, 2013

The last couple of years i have been asked to shoot a group image of the years Lucia candidates. I have always had complete freedom in doing whatever i wanted with the idea of the image. This year i shot all the candidates separately and will merge them together with some other fun things! What the result looks like you’ll be able to see here very soon!

3D, in real life!

October 24th, 2013

I needed a boat for one of my pictures so i built one in 3D, in real life! 🙂 The right colour was fixed with some spray cans. Now i’ll just have to shoot it in the exact right angle and then put it in the image!

Cold rain and some kind of forest creature

October 23rd, 2013

Yesterday i shot a cover for our “neighbour” city, Timrå. The image was to illustrate how close they have to the nature and do it in a little mysterious way.
The location was a beach by a little lake quite near the freeway, but what may look really boring to one will look great in camera 😀
We didn’t have the weather on our side, almost freezing, clouds and rain. But we packed all the gear and headed out on the cold beach. After some setting up and testing we started shooting. The model was to have some reindeer horns on her head which was kind of tricky to attach. But we got them there. I also needed the grass to be on the other side of the camera so i had to “replant” some 🙂
Everybody did a great job, even though the model almost freezed to death and my computer somewhat drowned in all the rain!

The Dragons part III

October 22nd, 2013

While we’re working on the post production of the second image for Dragons basketball, went and shot the third in the series. This time we shot Alex Wesby in a brass bath at Spa Maskrosen 🙂 A smaller room to shoot in is hard to find i might think, especially if you’re supposed to shoot the image from above more or less. I think i hit my head in the ceiling 10 times!

There will be a whole lot of post production on this image as well 😀 The floor has to be replaced, a shelf built in 3D and so on …

The concept of the image will be more clearly when it’s finished!

Pictures on their way to new owners!

October 19th, 2013

Just the other day i had the honors to give out one of the pictures that was sold during the exhibition! It’s always great to see ones images end up with someone who liked it so much they decided to buy it! I hope it will look good on your wall Maria!
