Days at work

The second image that we shot for Permobil was at a military base here in Nashville. For this shot we had five young young guys acting as recruits and an ex military acting as their drill sergeant. We had found a great spot at the base with some old barracks which would be great in this shot. Of course we had a Humvee for this shot as well, which would be in the background. After taking a ride in it i realized two things, the Humvee is as cool as it is uncomfortable 😀
The chair we had for this shot was a Vertical Stand, which was perfect since the drill sergeant would be standing in front of the recruits shouting at them. The guy we had helping us at the base told the “recruits” how to stand in a line. You could tell instantly that he was military, since the guys in like two seconds was standing like sticks in a straight line 😀

After some shouting and a bunch of military phrases from the drill sergeant we had the shot! A big thank you to all in the team that helped during the two shoots! It was a blast!

Yesterday we shot the first of two images here in Nashville for Permobil. The idea was to have a granny baking cupcakes in the kitchen. All the Profoto gear from Citation Support was waiting for me when i got there. Daniel, my assistant for the day helped me set everything up for the shoot, while cupcakes where piled up in the kitchen. As always it took some time to get everything in place and ready before we could do the shot. We had a great team which made everything so much easier and fun!

Right now i’m taking a cup of coffee at Arlanda Airport waiting for my flight to depart. I’m heading for Nashville to shoot to new images for Permobil. It’s fast in fast out i can tell you, i’ll be home just in time for supper on friday! 😀

I think it’s gonna be great! The agency has emailed me sketches, location- and props photos and it looks fantastic! I hope to be able to get a lot of behind the scenes photos.

My new bag which i wrote about the other day is great! But i don’t think i can fit anything more into it right now 🙂

Last week we shot the cover for Birsta City Magazine again, this time for the summer issue. The idea was to have a family hitchhiking to Birsta City on a typical summer road. All the wardrobe was ready, the models was booked and the location was scouted! When we got there it was kind of cold and maybe not typical summer weather, but at least it didn’t snow, or? Yep! Before we where all set with the lighting and props big fluffy snowflakes started falling together with an increasing wind, and there was only one word to  describe it: crap!

The models was freezing and had to run into the cars to get warm under blankets and jackets. All the props flew around the round in the hard wind and i cut my hand so my camera was all bloody 🙂 On top of all that the assignment was to illustrate a warm summerday on a typical summer road!
Everybody did a great job despite the weather, no matter how cold they where they screamed and acted as it was the hottest day all summer!

The second image we shot inside, thank god! And as i was setting up everything i could see the weather turning all mad outside the window. The snowing was now insane. As i saw it i thought to myself that we were really lucky since it could have been much worse out on the road!

Last tuesday i shot another portrait for LAJV Magazine. This time it was the airbrush artist Linda “Flickan” Tolind. And as i knew that she had begun doing some tattoo’s as well my idea was to shoot her doing a nice tramp stamp on a guy in a suit in some kind of garage, why? I don’t know, it just felt cool some how 🙂

I called up a garage in town and asked if it was ok to shoot there. They were thrilled and we where welcome to use it!

Since my model who was to wear the suit didn’t have a tatto and didn’t want one either, especially not a tramp stamp, i had to draw one in Photoshop. Since i was doing it in PS i put in the text Bad Ass as well 😀

The lighting was set up as follows. Two Profoto Magnum reflectors with grids and a soft light reflector from the sides and the back as rimlight. A 3×4 softbox from my left and the Profoto ringflash with the white softlight reflector.

Last thursday i shot new images for the hockey team Timrå IK. It’s for the last fight in the series. A lot of sweat and serious eyes 🙂

The images are being used in ads and posters during the last games in the series, the theme of the campaign is “it’s time to fight back!”, so there where some really determined players i shot.

As i had limited time and the art director in the studio, we used Phase One’s Capture Pilot, sending every exposure to his iPad. That way he could make his selection “on the fly”!

The lighting setup was two Profoto Magnum reflectors with grids 45 degrees from the back, one normal reflector with grid giving some light från above from the back, a softlight reflector with grid straight from the camera and a softbox behind me just helping with the harsh shadows in the face …

Today i shot for Permobil again. This time the idea was two friends sitting and fishing on the ice and getting a really big fish!

Permobil really makes great electric wheelchairs, but i don’t think they where designed to be driven in wet snow out on a lake 😀 But with some raw strength and willpower we got it into position.
all the equipment was pulled out with a small sled. The fish was pre-fixed, i bought it the day before 🙂
I got a little bit worried this morning when it was grey and raining outside! Last time it rained during a shoot one of my Pro-7B burned due to water getting into it! But we decided to give it a shot anyway and just in time when everything was set up and ready the sun came!
The models did a terrific job and after a lot of screaming and tossing fishes where done! Now there is some retouching that needs to be done before it is ready for print!

Yesterday i shot some jewelry. It’s a new line of jewelry that is designed here in town. They wanted pictures for a catalogue and also images that would work in adds etc. I made some testshots for another company long time ago that never was used for different reasons, so this was a really great opportunity to use the same theme as then, jemelry shot in charcoal! 🙂

I got a table on which i built a small landscape of charcoal in which i placed necklaces, rings and bracelets. It really turned out great! I’ll post some images here when they are all done!

A couple of days ago i shot the last of a bunch of new images for YOHIO to be used during his (yes, he’s a he) release in Japan.

We shot for two days and he has two characters which we did. 19 images where chosen, so i had some editing to do …

For the lighting i used both the Profoto ringflash and the Profoto softlight reflector, used together to make everything so even as possible without making it totally flat!

The other day i shot new images for Fortis et Liber, it’s the company i took pictures of Rocco, the frieser horse, which i’m competing in the Hasselblad Masters with. This time it was tow new horses and we did everything with a whote background instead of the black one we used last time. I went out early and started setting up everything. It’s not very easy to set up an 5.50x5.50 metre background all by yourself! Especially when the rod that hold everything up is only 5 metres 😀 So i had to do some last minute constructing with a light stand and some duck tape!
We shot mostly product shots, but also some portraits and image shots as well. The owners to the horses filmed some during the shoot, so i’m posting that as well
